The New York Jets' search for a new head coach and general manager has intensified, with the team casting a wide net to find the right candidates to lead their franchise. In their pursuit of a new head coach, the Jets have interviewed Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who brings a wealth of experience and success to the table. "Nagy, who has overseen the Chiefs' offense led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes the past two seasons, met with the Jets during a video call," the team announced.

Nagy's impressive résumé includes a stint as the head coach of the Chicago Bears from 2018 to 2021, where he led the team to a 34-31 record and two playoff appearances. His crowning achievement came in 2018 when he was named the AP NFL Coach of the Year after guiding the Bears to a 12-4 record and an NFC North title. "He was the AP NFL Coach of the Year in 2018, his first year with the Bears when they went 12-4, won the NFC North title and lost to Philadelphia in the wild-card round," the team noted.

However, Nagy is not the only candidate the Jets have interviewed. They have also spoken with Mike Vrabel, Ron Rivera, and Rex Ryan, with more interviews expected, including Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. The team's search for a new general manager is equally extensive, with interviews conducted with Kansas City Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi and Philadelphia Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby.

Borgonzi, who has been with the Chiefs since 2009, has played a crucial role in the team's scouting operations and roster construction. "Borgonzi has been the Chiefs' assistant GM under Brett Veach since 2021, supervising and directing the team's college and professional scouting operations while also helping build the roster," the Jets noted. Meanwhile, Halaby has been the Eagles' assistant GM since 2022, having worked his way up through the organization since joining as an intern in 2007.

The Jets' owner, Woody Johnson, has enlisted the help of The 33rd Team, a football media, analytics, and consulting group founded by former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum, to assist in the search process. Tannenbaum and former Dolphins and Vikings GM Rick Spielman are tasked with identifying, vetting, and coordinating interviews with potential candidates.

As the Jets embark on this crucial decision-making process, they are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to find the right leadership team to guide the franchise toward success. With a thorough and comprehensive approach, the team hopes to make the best possible choices that will shape its future for years to come.
